Outside of travel and leisure

Over the years I have worked with some fantastic clients, either overseeing my team’s work with my then company The Marketing Room or directly handling the account myself. These include:

I’ve edited and/or written for various newspapers and magazines. These include:

Broadcast experience includes BBC News, BBC Radio Two (Jeremy Vine), Radio Five Live, BBC regional radio, Sky, ITV News (national and regional).

I’ve also written two acclaimed books on freelance writing.

  • I have worked with the Marketing room for a couple of years now and find their warm open approach to clients refreshing. They have a wealth of knowledge in the marketing segment, which we have seen great benefit from, especially in the social media area. The team are always on hand with advice and guidance of how to get the most positive reaction from blogs, adverts etc. I’m looking forward to many more years of working together.

  • From a journalist's point of view, Linda is a dream PR. She knows exactly what makes a story, what elements will pique an editor's (and readers') interest, and how to present it in a compelling way. She is professional, reliable and has a great sense of humour – three elements which make her hugely enjoyable to work with, time after time.

  • We have used the Marketing Room for training and marketing purposes in the past and have always found them to be of the highest quality of expertise. Our latest day-course on Advanced Social Media and Marketing inspired all who participated and fired them with lots of new marketing ideas. This company is really at the `top of their game` and I really recommend them!

  • I have had the pleasure of working with Linda and Carol over the past few years to support in driving our social media and marketing strategy to place my business back on track following a multimillion pound investment. I was unsure as to the power of social media at the time and Linda, along with her team at the Marketing Room made everything quite straight forward and easy to understand. Social media is clearly the way forward for any business and you would be a fool not to embellish it. If you do, then I would highly recommend Linda and the Marketing Room. Linda is supportive, makes it easy to understand and very creative in her thinking to place your business on the map.

  • Thanks very much for such an engaging and high quality workshop last week, which has definitely made a positive impression on us all! (And keeps coming up in conversation) The press release training was beyond useful and we are now applying it to other areas of our work as well.

  • I first received support and advice from Linda on an informal basis through a journalists' forum. Her wise words and extensive knowledge helped me to up my game and become a better journalist, so I was keen to attend her offline workshop in commercial writing. Packed with practical advice and tips, the workshop was not just useful in terms of commercial copywriting (and how to create new business in this field) it was also fantastic to receive training during an early stage of my own career as a teacher and trainer. I still reflect on Linda's sound advice and would recommend her training, PR, content and blogging services wholeheartedly.
